5 reasons why I became blunt.

It's no secret that I've become a rather blunt person - my friends often joke about it. It's not that I'm coarse or mean, I'm just very to-the-point on things that matter and I'm not afraid to say state my beliefs or feelings on a subject. That being said, I haven't always been that way. I used to be pretty shy and I hated meeting new people, especially if talking to them was necessary. I'm still somewhat backwards around newcomers, in my opinion, unless they strike up a good conversation....or if they say something that I completely disagree with. (I'm talking about a serious topic, just not an opinion on something stupid like the newest American Idol or whatever is the new popular show nowadays.)

(Hey, who else remembers when this used to be a fashion blog? Whoops! Kind of ditched that awhile ago...)

I don't really remember when it happened or how it happened, but I've become a pretty straight-forward person who doesn't really care that much about what people think about me or my morals or my conservative brain or my faith. And if an Atheist walks up to me and wants to start up a conversation, I'll jump at the chance to debate because God always wins over text books and no, I'm not one of those Christian's who have no argument because they know nothing about the God that they claim to love and worship and adore. (honestly I'd rather debate with an Atheist than a Christian with a hardened heart. Any day of the week.) I'm not afraid to be blunt with a friend who is leading a life that will bring her only sadness and heartache, I'm not afraid to be truthful. Not anymore. I'm not afraid to tell anyone I come in contact with that I am against gay marriage, abortion, sex before marriage, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, yada yada yada. In fact, I recently made a very long post on my horse account on Instagram with over 10k followers about how I am 100% against homosexuality. Imagine the reaction I got. It was great, I say with sarcasm. I get my fair share of hate, whether it be emailed to me, sent to me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram or commented on this blog for the whole wide world to see, and it stopped bothering me a long time ago. But why? And how? Why did I become blunt?

1.) Because I am sick and tired of sin ruining lives, relationships and families.

When you see close family members dying daily of drug addiction, you get tired of it pretty quickly. So I became blunt about that and no, I'm not afraid to show those family members how I feel about what they are doing. I try my best to do it in love (which is something God's convicted me of a lot, and I'm sure He'll have to do it again. And again. And again.) and support them. When you see friends going down really hard paths because of anxiety, depression, sexuality confusions and more, you get tired of it. Frankly, I am NOT going to stand by and watch someone go down a path and do things that I know is wrong. What kind of friend would I be if I just sat by and watched? Sin is sin is sin. It's bad. It ruins things. It ruins people. And one day, maybe my bluntness will cause someone to think before doing whatever it is that they do and wake. up.

2.) Because ooey-gooey, lovey-dovey'ness isn't going to get us anywhere.

There is a time and place for love.

I'll be the first to say that I'm a typical girl - I'm a hopeless romantic, lover of all things sweet and mushy in the world, but let's be honest. Do you see those ooey gooey Christian's out there making too big of a difference? Telling the world that there is Heaven but never mentioning that there is a Hell is going to cause a lot of messed up people to think that God is only love when the Bible clearly states that He is also a jealous, righteous, strong God. He will not be poked and prodded. With that being said, I'm NOT saying to be a jerk. God says to love thy neighbor and treat them with love and understanding, but He did NOT say to treat them as if they were perfect angels and that them sinning is okay. Granted, we don't need to be hypocrites (because all fall short of the glory of God) but we don't need to be weak, either. We are also supposed to hold other Christian's accountable for their actions and to watch ourselves so that we are also strong and not tempted by sin. Matthew 18:15-17 tells us that when a brother in Christ (or sister) sins that we are supposed to tell him of his fault but we aren't supposed to stir up gossip, either.

Plus, if we truly loved people, we'd be preaching about Hell, as well, because Hell is exactly what we are fighting against. When we act as if there is no Hell, we might as well be on Satan's side.

3.) Haters became my motivators.

Little did I know, that when I started this blog, it would not be anything I pictured (or wanted) it to be. I had planned for this to be a modest fashion blog, like Fresh Modesty or Bramblewood Fashion but God had something very different in mind. Before I started this blog, I wasn't a blunt person at all. I also wasn't very sure about God, my faith or the Word of God. I didn't know much about the Bible because I had no "reason" to be (other than, ya know, the obvious) but then I started this and I started researching the Bible more and getting more involved in Church and I realized what a big deal this whole God thing really is. Little did I know, that these verses listed below would become my motto for this blog in general. As I started getting more involved, haters stopped bothering me because they were proof that I'm doing something right. I'm not perfect in the least and God convicts me of stuff every single day and sometimes I wonder why I even try to write on a Christian blog because I'm not worthy, but at the end of the day, as I read the comments or emails or whatever from atheists and fake Christian's and more, and shake my head at the pure hatred, I laugh and thing, yup. At least I can do something right.

John 15:18 If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Jeremiah 20:11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Hebrews 10:33 Partly, whilst you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst you became companions of them that were so used.

4.) Because I stopped caring about if I offend someone.

This goes hand-in-hand with my last reason. Keep in mind (please.) that I'm not saying it's okay to be mean or hurt someone's feelings. There's a huge difference of bullying someone and sticking to your morals.

I have several acquaintances that I talk to pretty often that constantly joke about how blunt I am. A lot of them probably get offended by me. One of which is struggling with a very sensitive topic - homosexuality. I can't tell you how many times I've point blank told her that homosexuality is a ticket straight to Hell. Yeah, I've probably offended her a lot. Yeah, one of these days, I'll probably lose her friendship. But honestly? If I really care about you, I should be saying these things. If I really believe in Hell, I should be fighting for her life to be saved from it.

I've debated with a lot of people about religion and offended a lot of people about religion. My posts on Facebook and this blog have gotten me deleted off of their friendlist and it's actually caused my relationship with family members to be kind of strained because I couldn't care less if I offend you with my anti-abortion posts because that's what I believe and I know it's truth - if you don't like it, you can delete me. It's not that I have this sick desire to hurt someone's feelings, it's that I have this desire to make sure everyone I know realizes that there's a God out there and He's not taking excuses on judgement day.

5.) Because God saved me.

The most important reason.

I am blunt because the Lord saved my soul. He sent His son to die on the cross for me and I owe Him everything. Losing a few friends or hurting a few relationships on this earth is nothing compared to what He did for me. All He truly asks of us as Christian's after we are saved is to go and be fishers of men. He asked us to go out and preach the gospel and tell the whole world the truth, not just the watered-down version of the gospel. And if that's what He wants me to do?

Here I am, Lord. Send me.

“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”

3 Foolish Responses

Good afternoon, everyone! I've been so busy in the past couple of weeks and I've just had no time for blogging at all. We've had so many things to do, so many places to go! It's nice to start settling down a bit and making more time for the blog. Tonight, I want to post some older sermon notes from a couple weeks ago from the sermon entitled 3 Foolish Responses to The Lord's Invitation. We read in Luke 14:13-24.

So, let's begin.

The Invitation -

God bids everyone to His eternal feast, yet not everyone will come. This parable talks about God's invitation to us all, the invitation to join Him in Heaven one day. The Bible is very simple if you really take the time to read it. This is about salvation, a plain plan that God created for all of His children. All these people had to do was simply come. They didn't have to go home from work and get cleaned up first - God planned on cleaning them up, Himself. They didn't have to pay an entry fee - God paid that fee when He sent His son to die on the cross. The only requirement is that they simply come to Him as they are, with a willing and faithful heart.

16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready

These people were offered an amazing feast, already prepared, already fixed. They weren't required to bring parts of the meal or help set the table, they just had to come and dine. When you think of it this way and read the parable that Jesus spelt out for us, it seems to silly. If you were offered a place at a table, just covered in your favorite foods and the most refreshing drink for free, would you take Him up on the offer? Well, I don't know if you would, but I most certainly would accept the offer pretty happily. But what did these people do when offered a seat? Let's see.

The Excuses -

Guess what the people did? They began spewing off excuses! Let's read about them, one by one.

18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
  • The first made valued his land far more than this offer of a feast (Read: salvation.) He was more concerned about his possessions and in turn, the possessions began owning him. My Pastor and several other men made the point that he had apparently bought land without even seeing it beforehand! Tell me, would you buy something like that without actually seeing it? Feeling the soil? Making sure it's good land? If you wouldn't, you are probably wiser than this guy. But if you think about it, maybe we aren't much wiser! How often do we put material things in God's place? God owns and controls our land, our livestock, our everything! Which means He can do whatever He wants with it. This man put so much in fallible land without paying the Creator that controls it any mind.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
  • The second man valued his animals (and material things, as well) more than this offer. Like the first man, he had apparently never even seen these oxen before! He put too much weight into his animals and not enough on his own spiritual health and eternity. This is something that I need to watch, myself. If you know me well, you'll know that I love my animals. But we must remember that, even though the Lord has given us these animals to help us prosper and enjoy them, we can't let them become god's in our life or come before Him.

20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

  • This man claimed to care more about his family than God, but if he truly cared about his family, he would see a need for their spiritual appetite to be filled up at this feast. His marriage removed his appetite for God. Men are supposed to be the leaders in a marriage, despite how busy life may be or how much your family decides that they want no part in church (whether it be because it's turned boring or because they are mad at the Lord) he should be the one to decide to get stronger roots in God's family. If you truly love your family, lead them to the Lord. Nothing comes before Christ - not even a spouse.

Closing Thoughts -

21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

As we read through this parable, we will see that most of the excuses come from one main thing - busyness. If you are too busy for God, you are too busy. We also learn that God does NOT accept excuses. He has given us enough grace to last a lifetime and He will not continue to wait on you to be "ready" for salvation. He has given us everything, far more than we deserve. Don't take Him for granted and treat Him like a genie in a bottle, as if He's your personal slave. Don't wait - we are never promised a tomorrow. These people waited too long, and in the end, they never got to taste the Lord's supper.

If you are making excuses about getting saved, baptized or maybe even rededicating, take time and pray that the Lord opens your eyes and heart. Don't let your heart become hardened while you wait for the "perfect time" when life is simpler because that day may never come. Satan wants us to wait as long as we can, because he knows that one day, our life will end and we'll see the Lord on the judgement seat.

Set-Apart Girl in a Glued Together World

Oh, my. I have so many things to post about today. I could talk about quite a lot of things, like how God has been working in a friend of mine's life, how He's shown Himself to me in extraordinary ways or how He's blessed friends in the past week. It's really amazing to have so many wonderful things to post about that I literally don't even have enough time in the week to get it all posted! But here I am, ironically enough, not posting about those things I mentioned above. I want to save a couple of those things for the new blog series (send in your testimonies for it, see last post for details!) and this is kind of on my heart after finally finishing up Authentic Beauty by Leslie & Eric Ludy.

What does it mean to be a Set-Apart Girl? More importantly...what does it mean to be a Set-Apart Girl in a Glued Together World? I know, weird title, very lengthy, a mouthful. What do I mean by "glued together world?" I mean just that - we are in a glued together society. Everyone does everything the same way, everyone believes in the same thing and if you don't believe in the same thing, you are considered racist, a hypocrite or old-fashioned. People, especially girls, are glued together nowadays. They always have to fit in, do the things that their friends are doing and wear what's in style. People stick together in this world, which isn't a bad thing necessarily until you completely lose sight of the person that we should be following and trying to be like - Jesus.

Being Set-Apart means to be different from the world around us that is sticking together so tightly. We are supposed to be so different that the world looks at us with wonder in their eyes and ask themselves just what is so different about us! Why are we so happy? Why are we that kind? Why do we dress differently? Speak differently? We're supposed to be so Set-Apart that the world can see the difference easily and clearly. We aren't supposed to stick with the world as if we were glued to it's latest fads and styles.

Let's delve in a bit deeper and find out just what a Set-Apart girl is, shall we?

1. Someone who is 100% focused on Jesus Christ.

Everyone makes mistakes and we all fall short of the glory of God, but regardless of that, we, as Set-Apart Christian ladies, are supposed to be 100% dedicated and focused to Jesus Christ and His holy word. Someone who is so interested in finding out more and more about Him, studying the Bible and finding new things out all the time. We are supposed to be interested in studying and praying and learning as we delve into a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Lover. Are you focused on Him, or something - someone, maybe - else? A truly Set-Apart Girl in this Glued Together World must be focused and dedicated to the Lord.

2. Someone with a kind, loving spirit.

We've got a lot of mean girls in this world, don't we? Lots of girls that only seem interested in making other people sad, only interested in hurting someone's feelings just to feel that power when the other person breaks down. There are a lot of feminists in this world, that are so caught up in Equality that they forgot that they were born a woman for a reason. Even though Equality sounds nice sometimes, in the end, the Lord wanted men to rule over the women in the household and for the men to be the strong leaders, and for women to be meek, lovely spirited ladies of Christ. Princesses, if you will. After all, we are the daughters of a King! When you think about a Princess, would you think about a mean spirited lady with disgust in her eyes? Or would you rather think of a sweet, tender person? We are supposed to be kind and loving, just like Jesus called us to be in Proverbs!

3. Someone who is proud of her Heavenly Lover.

It's so important to be proud of Jesus Christ, especially in the world we live in today. We should be able to proudly proclaim His name and tell the world that He has a place in our heart that no man can take, a seat on a throne. We should be able to tell others that He is the one who is guiding us through our life and we gave Him the pen of our life, our love-story, our future, and that we are letting Him write out the rest of our life. It's one thing to believe and have faith in Him, but the Bible says that we are to be Fishers of Men! Tell me, can you catch a fish if you are nowhere near water? Without a proper supplies? No! You can't just sit around and twiddle your thumbs - be proud of your King and the relationship that you have with Him! How else are you going to be fishermen - or fisherwomen?

4. Someone who is willing to give Him the pen.

One of the hardest things I've ever had to do is give God the pen and trust Him to write out my life and plan out my future without knowing exactly what He was going to do. I look forward to my future and seeing what He has in store, but it gets scary not knowing what in the world He's going to do! Is He going to give me a nice Christian man to settle down with? Is He going to send me to Africa for missions? Is He going to give me children? Is He going to continue this story for long? I don't know the answers to any of those questions and I've tried to grab the pen from His hands quite a few times and take back what I felt was rightfully mine, but I've seen firsthand that I am not capable of writing such an amazing story like Christ is. I am not capable of writing myself a flawless, intricate, thought-out story and making it real - Only God can do that. As much as I'd like to be able to say that I'm definitely getting married, definitely having kids, definitely having a cute little house and maybe a few horses for the rest of my life...I just don't know and I won't know until my life continues pattering on. A Set-Apart girl must be able to give the Savior the pen of her life completely, trusting in Him to write out the perfect story for her, even through the angst and cliff-hangers.

If you read my 4 out of many more reasons, you'll probably have noticed how different those traits are from the world's typical traits. Most girls now pick what they want to do and they set out for it, only trusting themselves to get them there. Most girls now call themselves a "Christian" but when pressed and asked hard questions about things like,
  • Homosexuality.
  • Abortion.
  • Politics.
she starts spouting off things like, "Well, homosexuality really isn't bad..besides, everyone sins!" or, "Abortion isn't really murder, I mean, the baby doesn't feel it!" She is not truly a born-again Christian because if she were, she would be proud of her Savior. Friends, I've been accused of being blunt a lot, especially by my unsaved acquaintances. It is extremely hard to be blunt all the time like I feel like I need to be and remain nice as well, but some things must be said and I've never had second thoughts about doing what I needed to do and saying what needed to be said. Not to say that I didn't waver on a few things, but then God quickly pesters me until I correct myself. No one is perfect, I know that firsthand, but if you do not feel proud that you are saved, proud of being a Princess, then there is something missing/wrong with your relationship with Christ. Whether you need to rededicate or get saved, something is very wrong.

Most girls now are, let's face it, mean girls. They feel no reason why they shouldn't tease someone for being too fat, too skinny, too pale, too tan, too short, too tall, etc. They throw out names and cuss words without thinking of it and act more like the drunk, mean men that we see on TV rather than the ladies that we were meant to be.

Most girls now are about 50% focused on God, if that much. Their busy lives filled with boys, school, work, etc, leave them running and restless while there is "no time" for God. They have no problems with making dinner plans with a special guy while they complain about how they have no time for God in the midst of their life. If you are too busy for God, ladies - you are too busy.

Don't think that you don't fit into any of those things, that you have none of those traits. As we strive to be Set-Apart, we must acknowledge our own failures and faults. Let's go back on the points for a moment.

Am I 100% focused on Christ? No. I'm not. My "busy life" is indeed "too busy" and I desperately need to take more time for the Lord and make sacrifices so I can spend more time on my knees in prayer or reading His word.

Am I always kind and loving? No. I don't get mad very easily, but when I do...I get mad. Sometimes I say things I have no business saying, sometimes I do things that hurt other people. And let's get on the topic of "mean girls" for a moment. There are some girls that bring out that Mean Girl in me! There are some people that literally make me cringe just by seeing them, I won't lie. Is that okay? Well, I think it's okay to dislike someone a little because of a good reason, but there's nothing "okay" about being mean, even if it's to another mean girl.

Am I always proud of my Heavenly Lover? While this may be one of my better traits, I am nowhere near 100% with it. Sometimes, I hesitate to tell people about Jesus Christ and how He's worked in my life because I don't want to seem like the typical weak and meek Christian, who has no guts. Saying things to a person, in person, is much harder. I can be blunt with people all day long, but when it comes to me having to say something ooey-gooey, which shouldn't be the main focus, but a focus nonetheless, is hard for me.

Am I willing to give Him the pen? Like I said before, I try, but I fail daily and have to say, "Whoops! Sorry, Lord!" and give Him back the pen. I try to take control too much and while I know my plans will fail in the longrun, it's oh-so tempting to take it from Him and demand control so I can use MY plans! After all...I know myself so much better! Right? Well, nope. Not really.

Being a Set-Apart Girl in a Glued Together World is one of the hardest things you'll have to do as a Christian lady. It's hard to give Him the pen of your life, it's hard to say, "Here I am, Lord. Send me!" and trust Him completely. It's hard being different because if you are different in this world, you'll be looked down upon. But in the end, when He comes again, it'll be worth it, being Set-Apart.

My questions for you....
Do you fall in any of the "bad traits" categories?
Have you given God the pen?

Internet Friends are Real Friends

I'll have you all know that I had planned on getting a very serious post in last night.....but then this happened.

I met Grace on Pinterest 3 or so years ago. Somehow, she stumbled upon my account and we started talking and became fast friends. We shared a love for Jesus and a love for horses. We had gotten closer when she made an Instagram account (@gloryl0ve) and we started talking more, facetime'd and texted. I've considered her one of my best friends for quite awhile now and we had been trying to find a way to meet for months and months...then, she texted me and said that her family would be passing through my neck of the woods yesterday evening and wanted to know if we could meet up.

Obviously, I said YES! and we met up at a Starbucks for the first time ever yesterday!

I warned my parents ahead of time and said that I was going to go insane when I got out of the car and that Grace probably would, too, so mom had her camera ready and of course, we both got out of the car screaming and yelling and hugged. One person commented and said, "I swear, it looks like y'all have known each other for years and had been separated for years!" because it seriously didn't feel like we had never actually met in person.

Who says you can't meet good friends online? ;)

I am also the shortest person. Ever.

It was a very short visit since they had to get home before it got too late (they live in Kentucky so still had quite a drive ahead of them.) but it was great to finally meet - now we must do it again and soon! But yeah, this is why I was silent for most of yesterday, haha!

(And I was very happy she wasn't an old man hiding behind a computer.)

Feminism | Chivalry

I'm going to broach a very hot topic tonight - feminism. Before I begin, I want you all to know that I love being a woman and we deserve rights, respect and equality...to a certain point. But before you start getting mad, hear me out.

Feminism started taking this world by storm in the late 1930's-early 1940's. Back then, we saw a very different type of feminism. We saw Rosie the Riveter's, women who fought for the right to go to work so they could support their husbands and loved ones as they fought in the war. They did not scream for women's rights by burning their bra's, they did it in a classy manner. Not to say that there weren't women that were...well, the opposite of classy. There are always bad people in the world. The type of feminist that we have now are women who fight for the right to have kill their children, the ones who fight for "equality" while they call men stupid, arrogant pigs who only want one thing - sex. When you hear the word "feminist" what comes to mind? In all honesty, a classy woman does not come to mind, not anymore. I do not think of "Rosie's" anymore. I think of women prancing around topless because, if men can go shirtless, they can too. I think of women who wear clothes-hanger jewelry because taking a child's life is apparently a choice nowadays. And I'm not saying all feminists are like that, but let's face it. That is the 99%.

Let us never forget the first feminists, who fought for women AND their men in the classiest way possible.

God put women and men in separate places. As much as my inner feminist dislikes it and wants to come out shouting "Girl Power!!!" I must remember just what God says about this topic. He created man to rule over the household - not woman. He created man to love the woman and respect her, not to be an arrogant pig like so many men today. He created women to be classy, feminine and lady-like, not like so many feminists now. He created us to be different.

If He wanted us to be 100% equal, He would've clearly stated it. I can't find anything in the Bible that says that woman are to be equal to men, nor men be equal to women.

God did not create women to be disrespectful towards men, or the way that God made us. So many feminists are disrespecting men by demanding equal rights and when the man treats them like they would treat a male friend, the feminist gets mad because they are disrespecting them. If you truly want equal rights, don't get mad when the man starts treating you like "one of the guys."  Don't be mad when the man stops treating you like a lady. Don't be offended when the man stops displaying chivalry, because you were the one who asked him to stop in the first place.

If chivalry is dead, then women have killed it.

Let's all think back about how men used to act - we always rant and get mad at how bad men are nowadays. They are all horrible, sleazeballs, right? (wrong, but let's pretend.) So, let's look back on the era's where classy men seemed more popular. Like I said above, there were always bad people around. Not all men were perfect, not all men were classy, but you all get where I'm going with this.

We used to have classy men who courted women and took their time.
We used to have men who respected a woman and asked for her permission before he even kissed her.

Now we have men who expect sex on a silver platter, no questions asked.
Now we have men who treat women as if they are objects.

Now, let's think back even more.

When did these sleazeball, horrible men start coming around more and more? When women started this feminism movement. Men stopped asking the lady for a kiss and started demanding it when women started demanding that they be treated equally. Men stopped courting women when women started making a fuss over "my body, my choice." Men stopped acting like gentleman when women stopped acting like ladies.

And don't think I'm excusing rape or anything like that. Rape is never the women's fault. Do I think that how women dress sometimes makes the matter worse? Yes. Do I think that women ever ask to be raped? No. Any man who rapes a women deserves a lifetime of jail, end of story. There are some genuinely horrible men out there, and I'm not talking about those. I'm not excusing those men. There are the real "pigs" and sleazeballs in this world.

Those men can only be changed by Jesus Christ. The rest of the men, though? They are only treating women how women have asked to be treated.

Men are treating women like men because feminists demanded that they did so.

Whether we like it or not, we are not men. We have to wear different clothing because we have different bodies. We are supposed to act differently because we are different genders. God meant for ladies to be lady-like, meek, humble, lovely women for Him. He meant for men to be strong leaders, prayer warriors and loving men of God. He meant for women to be the second in command, loved by her husband. He meant for men to take leadership in his household and love his wife as Christ loves the church.

Ladies...if chivalry is dead, we have killed it.
